Cottage Garden, Wotton-under-Edge

The Brief

Sally had been frustrated with her garden for several years. The key factor was that the garden was too small for her and her children so she wanted a garden where they could play and she could relax after a hard days work and enjoy nature, she was keen on using recycled materials in the garden which she hoped would keep the budget down to a minimum.

The Result

First, we cleared the garden and removed a very old Lonicera hedge that had seen better days, which we replaced with a mix of hedgerow plants. Second we extended her patio and built a small wall using flagstones we recovered from the garden. For the edging to the garden path we used recycled wine bottles sunk into the ground and we continued the recycling in the center of the garden by using an old car tyre to make a wildlife pond. At the bottom of the garden we built a children’s play den on stilts and used the area underneath to store bikes etc.

Every morning I look out on my beautiful garden and I am grateful to you for creating such a gorgeous space which suits me perfectly. Never would I have believed this little garden could bring so much joy...
